Sepideh
Jandaghi
Persian vocalist, setar player and vocal instructor
From First Notes to an Independent Voice
Sepideh Jandaghi was born in Tehran in March 1983. She studied Persian vocal music at university and began her professional career in 2006.
She studied singing with Parisa while learning setar with Hassan Asadi, Heshmat Ataei and Majid Beheshti. She also spent about six years studying instrumental practice and Persian radif–dastgah music with Mehran Mehrnia. This close relationship between voice, instrument and the radif shaped her understanding of the dialogue between poetry and music.
Alongside recording and performance, teaching Persian vocal music remains a lasting part of her work, with an emphasis on vocal health, knowledge of the radif, precise poetry and each student’s individual expression.
For Sepideh, singing is more than technique; it is a way to keep poetry and human experience alive.
